The Pharmacy Donadio is a very particular pharmacy, as it features historical furniture, and a sales area rather limited. Furthermore, it is located in a village of just over 4,000 inhabitants in the mountains of the south Italy.<\/p>\n

These particularities have made the need to automate the pharmacy even stronger. The robot, placed in the back-office, has two exits, one of which is obtained by carving the antique furniture.<\/p>\n

Doctor Donadio, what led you to decide to automate your pharmacy?<\/strong><\/h4>\n

The idea of automating the pharmacy came to me and my family who is also involved in the management of the business, I would say because of our natural predisposition towards high-tech and new technologies. We have always been very attentive to this issue, convinced that it is very important for a pharmacy to keep up with the times, also for organizational and business management reasons.<\/p>\n

And the idea was followed by action when my son went to Cosmofarma (the most important pharmacy exhibition in Italy) and he got in touch with Pharmathek.<\/p>\n

What led you to choose Pharmathek to automate your pharmacy?<\/strong><\/h4>\n

I could say that my son visited Pharmathek’s booth almost by chance. Then, after a comparison with the product of another company, we decided to rely on Pharmathek not only because it had a more advantageous quality-price ratio, but also because it convinced us more as a solution and as level of energy efficiency and consumption.<\/p>\n

And then we were looked after very well by the area consultant.<\/p>\n

What are the advantages you appreciated the most from installing the robot?<\/strong><\/h4>\n

There are several advantages that I have found from warehouse automation. The most visible is the better management of spaces which, in a small pharmacy, makes a big difference.<\/p>\n

But perhaps the most important advantage is the control that allows you to have on the stock: now we can be 100% sure of the real stocks in the warehouse and this allows us to reduce losses and improve the reordering process. Another very appreciated aspect is related to expiry dates checking: recovering expired products is very easy and you can have a complete overview of expiring products even after a few months, preventing an expired product from being mistakenly delivered to the customer.<\/p>\n

In addition, the installation of the robot has speeded up all warehouse management, making products available faster.<\/p>\n

In summary, I would say that the robot has allowed us to have a cash recovery and an efficiency gain.<\/p>\n

Doctor Donadio, since you have a pharmacy that is not very spacious and with antique furniture, do you think having a pharmacy with these characteristics could be a deterrent to automation?<\/strong><\/h4>\n

At first glance this may seem like a deterrent, but as my experience has shown, this actually represents one more reason to automate.<\/p>\n

Of course, this makes the automation process a little more demanding from a technical and practical point of view, but the results come. No doubt about it!<\/p>\n

In the case of my pharmacy, for example, we wanted the high technology of the robot not to clash visually against the historical soul of the pharmacy. Therefore, the product outlet tray has been well hidden in the antique furniture, so much so that customers may not even notice the presence of the robot.<\/p>\n

The community realized that our pharmacy was automated by our different way of handling the customer over the counter and retrieving boxes. Once the presence of the automation was revealed, the customers were very curious, they asked to see it and were fascinated to watch it work.<\/p>\n

I can say that they welcomed the news very positively, also bringing people from the nearby areas to want to come and see it.<\/p>\n
