The owners of Del Prete Pharmacy have chosen to install a SINTESI automated dispensing robot for the second time. After seeing excellent results at their first pharmacy in Giovinazzo (BA), they decided to automate their second location in Molfetta (BA) as well.

For this site, the Pharmathek system was equipped with the exclusive Euclid3D gripper and the Pharmaload automatic loader. The goal: to optimize both the delivery speed of medications to the counter and the process of loading items into the robot.

The automation project also includes a pneumatic tube system. Once retrieved from SINTESI, items are transported through tubes directly to the pharmacists’ workstations using specially designed spiral conveyors.

The result? A marked improvement in every aspect of inventory management and a significant reduction in stress for the pharmacists at the counter.

We asked the owner, Dr. Carlo Del Prete, to share his experience with both of his SINTESI robots.

Dr. Carlo, what led you to introduce a robot in your pharmacy for the first time?

My first experience with automation dates back to 2004, at a time when robots in pharmacies were not yet as common as they are today. I made this choice to optimize inventory management and improve overall workflow efficiency. Since then, I’ve always believed in the benefits technology can bring to our profession.

Why did you choose Pharmathek?

When it was time to replace my first robot, I conducted a thorough analysis of the market and key competitors. I chose Pharmathek for its excellent value for money and the reliability of its products. The experience was so positive that I decided to install a SINTESI in my second pharmacy as well. An easy decision I would make again without hesitation.

How has daily work changed thanks to automation?

Work has improved in every way. Today, we manage inventory with a speed and precision that would have been unthinkable just a few years ago. We save time, reduce errors, and recurring tasks, like stock checks, returns, and expiry monitoring, are now much easier to handle. The robot allows us to work with greater peace of mind and confidence, without the worry of delivering expired or incorrect medications. For us, SINTESI has become indispensable. Going back is simply not an option.

Do you find the SINTESI robot easy to use?

Absolutely. I currently use two Pharmathek robots, a SINTESI1 and a SINTESI3, and both are extremely intuitive. The new interface makes every operation even simpler and more immediate. Even staff who aren’t particularly tech-savvy find it easy to use.

What do you think of the Pharmaload automatic loader?

It’s an incredibly valuable tool. Pharmaload saves us a lot of time during the loading process by automating one of the most repetitive tasks. It’s the perfect ally for further optimizing workflow and minimizing interruptions.
