ROBOT FOR SMALL PHARMACIES: THE FARMACIA SCAGLIOLA CASE

Less than 40 m² of sales area, a small team and no warehouse staff: Farmacia Scagliola demonstrates that a robot for a small pharmacy is not an investment designed only for larger pharmacies.

For Dr. Luca Scagliola, the need was very practical: to lighten the operational tasks that, as he often worked alone, fell directly on his shoulders. With SINTESI, he automated the management and handling of medicines, while Pharmaload also made warehouse management easier.

The result? Greater freedom in managing the pharmacy and the opportunity to dedicate more attention to compounding and patients.

We asked Dr. Luca why, in his experience, automation can be particularly useful for small pharmacies.

HEAR FROM THE PHARMACIST

Dr. Luca, why did you decide to install a robot in your pharmacy?

I needed to reduce the burden of day-to-day pharmacy operations and manage the activities related to medicine handling more efficiently.

For me, SINTESI was the most rational choice. Entrusting a significant part of the daily management to automation allows me to recover around half a working day and dedicate it to other activities.

What convinced you to choose SINTESI by Pharmathek?

The technology and the possibility of configuring SINTESI according to the pharmacy’s available space played an important role.

Mine is a very small pharmacy with specific needs, and the project was modified several times to find the solution that best suited us.

The relationship with the consultant who supported me, Paolo Bulferi, also made a big difference: I found him very helpful, with an approach focused on finding the right solution for my pharmacy, rather than simply selling me a product.

How has your work changed since SINTESI was installed?

The most tangible change has been recovering around half a working day, which I can now dedicate to activities that were previously more difficult to fit into my daily routine.

In particular, I have increased the time I dedicate to compounding, precisely thanks to the support of the robot. The pharmacist who works with me for three half-days a week can also be assigned to different tasks, because some of the operational activities have been automated.

One thing that gives me particular satisfaction is seeing that, while I am taking care of other tasks, SINTESI continues to work.

As a small pharmacy, I know my customers and their habits very well. The relationship with patients therefore remains very personal, while the robot takes care of the more operational activities.

Is the SINTESI robot easy to use?

Yes, it is intuitive. I am the main user, but the pharmacist who works with me can also operate it without any difficulty.

And what difference has the Pharmaload automatic loader made?

Pharmaload was one of the elements that convinced me to purchase SINTESI.

It has significantly streamlined warehouse activities, automating part of the work that I previously had to handle myself.

Would you recommend SINTESI to someone running a small pharmacy?

Yes. In a small pharmacy, automation can make a big difference. It allows you to make better use of the available space and automate activities that would otherwise require time and resources.

For me, it is important to be able to work with peace of mind and focus on patients, without constantly having to think about loading, checking incoming goods or dealing with operational tasks.

I work against the trend, in an area where competition is strong, and I believe that being able to dedicate more attention to people and genuinely help them makes a difference.

Knowing that these activities are handled by SINTESI allows me to work with greater peace of mind.

Some pharmacists tell us that they have given their robot a name. Did you do the same?

Yes. Many names were suggested, including by our customers. In the end, the name that everyone agreed on was Bernardo.

Facing a similar situation? Let’s talk about it.

Tell us about your pharmacy’s needs: together, we’ll evaluate the approach that best suits your pharmacy.

Every pharmacy has a different story. The right project starts with listening.

Pharmacy automation is not a one-size-fits-all solution: every project starts with understanding the available space, workflows and the needs of the team.
If you are also considering a robot for your pharmacy, the first step is not choosing a model, but understanding which solution can truly integrate into your environment.

Tell us about your pharmacy: let’s talk about your project

No obligation: one of our consultants will get back to you to learn more about your pharmacy and work with you to understand which solution can best meet your needs.
